If you have a hearing impairment, here are some of the ways we can support you during your homebuying journey:

Appointments in-store

We can arrange appointments with a British Sign Language (BSL), lip speaking, or deaf and blind manual interpreter if this is something that you feel may be of benefit to you. We simply ask that you let us know as far in advance as possible so we can get this arranged.

Many of our offices have soundproof meeting rooms. This avoids any unnecessary distractions, allowing you to remain as comfortable as possible during your appointment.

We can also arrange for your appointments to be extended, so that we can ensure you have everything you need and that you have understood all the information provided to you.

Virtual appointments

If you’d like to have a remote video call with one of our advisers, we can organise an interpreter to attend your appointment with you. Alternatively, you also have the offer and support of arranging your own interpreter if you’d prefer.

We also support the use of the service ‘Relay UK’, which can make virtual or phone conversations with our team much easier to hold and understand. Relay UK is a free service (excluding mobile service fees) that is available through your computer and phone, providing text to speech/speech to text services.

Resources

  • British Deaf Association - The British Deaf Association is a national deaf-led organisation working directly with deaf people that use BSL, empowering them to overcome difficulties they face on a daily basis
  • Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) - supports people who are deaf, have hearing loss, or tinnitus, providing free, confidential, and impartial information and support.
  • Royal Association for Deaf People - provides accessible services in BSL that deaf people want and need, helping to keep them safe, well, happy, and achieve their full potential.

Do you require additional support?
