Third Princess Royal Training Award (PRTA) Secured for Mortgage Advice Bureau Scotland
Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) Scotland is delighted to announce its third Princess Royal Training Award win, following previous victories in 2018 and 2019.
The Princess Royal Training Awards celebrate employers that demonstrate exceptional dedication to learning and development, acknowledging organisations who invest in their employees' skills and can provide clear evidence of the positive outcomes this generates.
As skills shortages rise and job vacancies double across the UK and Ireland, engaging learning programmes that aid the growth and retention of talent have become crucial. MAB Scotland was recognised for its robust induction programme, which was introduced to improve levels of performance in their administration team.
Having enhanced the induction training offered to all new starters across the business, the firm has shifted its focus from training to investment, blending knowledge and skills-based training with wellbeing incentives and engagement opportunities. MAB Scotland was judged on the effectiveness of its training programme, from design and delivery to the impact training had on the future successes of those who completed the programme.
Notably, the assessors were impressed with the enhancements that the firm had made to the training programme, as well as the clear impact that this had on employees’ professional and personal development.
Louise French, HR & Finance Team Leader, MAB Scotland, led the firm’s submission bid, and was delighted to secure this accolade:
"While generating income is, of course, vital for our business's success, ensuring that our employees feel supported in terms of their professional development and wellbeing is equally important," comments Louise. "We're continuously looking at ways we can develop our team, equipping them with transferable skills that they can use both in the workplace and within their everyday lives.
"Our induction training programme, coupled with our wellbeing initiatives, serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to continuous growth and personal development. Not only does this propel us toward our business objectives, ensuring long-term success and stability, it also instils motivation and purpose in every employee throughout their journey with us.
"Thanks to our induction training programme and our ongoing career development initiatives, our customers enjoy a high quality of service delivered by a skilled workforce whose talents are nurtured, refined, and enhanced on an ongoing basis."
MAB Scotland is one of 53 organisations that has been granted a Princess Royal Training Award for achieving a positive impact through skills development. Key emerging themes across the board included an emphasis on skills development for rapid recovery and adaptability, and the significant effects of investing in leadership and management.
Kirstie Donnelly MBE, Chief Executive of award body, City & Guilds, said: "It's encouraging to see such a diverse range of employers continuing to apply for a Princess Royal Training Award. Despite the obvious challenges in recent years, they have shown unwavering dedication to nurturing their workforce through outstanding training and skills development, resulting in a lasting positive impact.
“As skills shortages and job vacancies rise, investing in training and development can help to increase productivity and harness and retain talent for future growth. Not only is this good for business and the workforce – it is also beneficial for wider society and contributes to thriving local economies. These organisations exemplify the transformative power of investing in people, and we are honoured to celebrate their accomplishments."
