Looking to relocate? Here's some helpful tips to get you started:

Consider your priorities

Depending on where you are in life will affect your priorities. Whether it be to move to a new city for new experiences or to a smaller village to start a family, making a list of priorities and non- negotiables for relocating is a must. You may want to consider commute times to work, the school catchment area, proximity to friends and family, transport, or the local community.

Work out your budget

What kind of budget are you working to? You may have recently sold your house or be in the process of doing so. There are also all the hidden costs associated with moving home to factor into your budget too.

Research research research

Start with the basics, consider what area do you want to move to, be it a city, town, or village. A quick internet search should give you all the information you need, however you may want to look into the area further.

If there are a few areas you are considering moving to, you can use the research to compare the areas. Looking at local amenities, quality of schools, how busy it is, the cost of living, transport, and crime rates. This may help you narrow down your options and decide on the place you want to relocate to.

Visiting the area during the week or weekend can also give you the feel of what the area is like if it’s hustling and bustling or quieter at certain parts of the day.

Future-proof your move

Before you relocate, think about how long you plan on living there for and what changes may happen during this time. For example, in the near future you may want to start a family or have a career change. These life events can have a huge influence on where you may want to move to and change your priorities when it comes to looking for a home in a new area.

Make the move as smooth as possible

Decluttering your home before you move can reduce the amount of stuff you take with you. It also lets you evaluate what items you actually need and want. Also, staying organised throughout the relocation process can ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. This includes paperwork, making a list of tasks that need to be done and organising your belongings into categories or rooms.

To make the relocation go super smooth, hire a removal company to help you transport your larger furniture and appliances. Some removal companies will also take down larger furniture to be moved then put it back up at your new home.
